This is a good statement of the theme of the story. It's also helpful in your comments if you mention at least one detail from the story that helps convey this idea.

I enjoyed the ironic aspect of this story. I thought that the end was interesting, because the Ticktockman was late. This illustrates that you can't let society rest on one person, or it will fail.

In this story The harlequin was quite the rebel he tried to make everyone late and by doing that the ticktockman was very upset so he tried to find this guy no matter what it took. In the end the harlequin was ratted out by a girl named pretty alice. And the end event was that in a way that the harlequin won because in the end the ticktockman was late for the first time in his life.

You make a good point about the end of the story. I'd like to see more conclusions like that about other ideas in the story.
